There’s a lot going on these days at the Redwood Playhouse on the College of the Redwoods campus in Garberville. After years of putting time and energy into improvements, the Playhouse is a beautiful and comfortable venue for classes, parties, weddings and memorials, as well as musical and theatrical performances & rehearsals. There is equipment available for screening movies, a sound system and a small kitchen. Whether you want to take a fun class or need to rent a space for an event, check out our calendar at redwoodplayhouse.com. You’ll find classes in Zumba, hip hop for kids & adults, Tabata, Aerial Arts, Aikido, theatre Improv and Kundalini Yoga. There are also many upcoming events taking place. SoHum Dancing will present their spring recital, a story ballet called “Across The Stars.” Shows are Friday, May 19 at 6pm and Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21 at 1pm. Tickets are on sale at the door 30 minutes before show time. $10 children under 12 and seniors, $15 general admission. You can voice your concerns at a Town Hall meeting with Representative Jared Huffman on May 31st beginning at 5:30pm. In June, Jessie Rubin will direct the Artemis Girls camp. The camp is for tweens and teens ages 10+. It is two weeks in June: June 20-23 and June 27-29 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. There is a performance in the evening of June 30th. The aim of the camp is "Empowerment through the Expressive and Performing Arts". Go to punkydance@keemail.me to register for camp.
